#A5657719 Myrtle is a full grown turtle who was brought to the Care Center as a stray on October 13. Myrtle is friendly and appears to have been well taken care of. Turtles can be fun and interesting pets. With the proper setup, your turtle will live a long and happy life.
With Myrtle’s large size, tank life isn’t suitable for her anymore. Myrtle will be her happiest living in a pond. If you don’t already have one in your backyard, building one could be a fun family project. Turtles need to be able to climb out of the water and onto an area where they can bask in the sun so that their shells stay nice and healthy. Females also need to have access to dirt, as they will lay unfertilized eggs once a year. When planning your habitat, keep potential predators in mind.
