My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hope! FKA Pretty

Are you looking for a 70lb lap dog who gazes at you adoringly 24/7 and genuinely thinks that you are the best thing in the world? Look no further than Hope! This pretty girl is sugar sweet and melts the hearts of everyone she meets. She has SO much love to give and is thriving with us in her foster home. Everyone who meets her says the same thing - "I cannot believe that somebody gave this dog up! How is she not adopted yet?"

She is such an easy girl and a lovely house guest. She happily hangs out in the dog bed next to my desk while I work during the day, and snuggles up with us on the couch at night. It's as though she has always been here - she adapts quickly to new environments, and she just wants to be included. She loves to snuggle more than anything. She wants to be as close to you physically as possible at all times, and she absolutely cannot be convinced that she is not a lap dog. She has the biggest, sweetest smile and loves to show it off. She also loves her ball and will carry it with her everywhere.

She is fostered with a large male dog and co-exists with him well. She has tried to engage him in play (he is an older gentleman and has politely declined her invitations, which she understands and handles well) but we suspect that she would thrive in a home with another playful dog. She previously lived with 7 other dogs, and was surrended to the local shelter due to her home having too many dogs. At the shelter they did a behavioral assessment with another large male dog and she passed with flying colors. We are confident that she would do well in a home with another dog given proper introductions. However, she can become overstimulated in environments with lots of strange dogs, so dog parks will NOT be her thing. It is unknown how she is with small dogs or other animals.

Highlights:

  • House trained

  • Medium to low energy (She is content with two good walks each day, with a few potty breaks in-between)

  • Well behaved

  • Sleeps in her crate at night with minimal fuss, and is easily crated if we go out during the day

  • Co-exists well with the large, low-energy male dog that she is fostered with. She previously lived with 7 other dogs, as well as teenagers.

  • LOVES to snuggle

  • Loves every single person that she meets

  • Her previous owners told the shelter that their favorite thing about her was that she is such a good listener
