My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing the best tripod boy Ferris!

Ferris quickly became a staff favorite here at the shelter, and how could you not fall in love with him? Between his perfectly imperfect snaggletooth "smile", chunky tom cat face and good natured personality he is a total catch. Ferris was spotted in late summer and had been seen hobbling around Paterson for weeks with a horribly broken and twisted leg. Luckily, his feeder was able to catch him and we were able to provide the medical attention he so desperately needed. In addition to his broken leg, we found that he had several fractured and missing teeth, as well as an old healed break on one of his front legs.

Though he bears the scars of a cat who has clearly had a tough life, you would never be able to tell by meeting him. Ferris is such a lover and is happiest when he's curled up in your lap, content and purring away. He's currently living in a free-roam room with a few other kitties and loves to greet new additions with head-butts just to let them know that they're welcome. He is going to make the most loving, loyal companion and we can't wait to find the home lucky enough to welcome him into their family ❤️

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
