My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Princess,

This sweet, lovable senior sure lives up to her namesake. Poor Princess came into her care when her owner was sent overseas for work and could not take her with him. Absolutely devastated, he reached out to us for support. Since her arrival, Princess has absolutely won over the hearts of all the staff and volunteers. She is such a happy girl, and feels her best when she can be right by your side. She would love to spend long days on the sofa, with an owner who primarily works from home to soak up all their love. Princess is highly food motivated, and because of this, her waste line is a bit larger than it should be for her age. To continue to thrive in her Golden Years, Princess requires a home that can commit to her weight loss journey, offering multiple short walks throughout the day and continued focus on her low calorie diet to help shed those pounds.
Princess is good with other animals and may do okay in a home with other pets. She would be best suited to an adult-only, quiet home where she can enjoy her retirement in peace and relaxation.

Princess is currently in foster care. We are accepting applications online, and will be approving adoption meets with approved applications only.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
