My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet handsome Teddy!

This sweet boy is looking for his forever home where he will be spoiled and doted on! Teddy can be a bit shy when first meeting new people but he warms up quickly and loves attention. He has the sweetest little meow and loves to curl up under blankets in a comfy spot.

Teddy prefers to be the only pet in his home as he isn't too fond of other pets. He would love to be the king of his castle! Teddy is a bit overweight so he will need someone who will monitor his weight and diet. He has been out on our catio in the shelter but was previously an indoor only cat, so a catio or supervised outdoor time with a harness and leash could be good for him!

If Teddy sounds like the one for you, send us an application or come down to the Comox Valley shelter to meet him! We are open from Tuesday to Saturday from 12-4pm.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
