My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Meeka is the sweetest little girl you'll ever meet! She runs right up to you and plops her little bum down and demands all the chin scratches and head rubs she can get.

Meeka came into our care as a stray, so we do not know how she spent her previous life. But we feel Meeka is young enough that she can learn to live in a home shared with cats, other dogs, and kids. Meeka would love a life with both activity, but also some down cuddly time with her people.

With consistent daily routine and structure, Meeka will make someone/ or a family so happy. Everyone here that has met Meeka, only has nice things to say about her and how sweet she is.

The first step to adoption is filling out the adoption application.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
