My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This heartbreakingly adorable forever-puppy boy is named Duke! Duke is a goofy, sweet and affectionate family dog at heart! He loves kids, he’s exceptionally dog friendly and does well with dogs of all energy levels and play styles. He’s cat tolerant, he’s a perfect fit for just about any animal lover’s home. An absolute dream dog, Duke loves the water, toys, and treats, bed time and couch snuggles.

We think Duke is a pittie mix, but he is a rescue so his exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed. We estimate his age to be around 1 year old, and he currently weighs around 56 pounds, the perfect size for all-night binge-watch snuggle sessions

Watch Duke here: https://youtu.be/hBj6HFS8Poo?si=L9vqyrHAGGZPod_E

Duke is currently thriving in a foster home with four other dogs! He adores other dogs, and plays well with all of them. He’s great at reading canine body language and accepting corrections too. Duke’s foster mom regularly takes him to the local dog park, where he mingles with other dogs successfully and enjoys swimming in a little doggy pool. Duke can be a little bit shy in new environments, and canine companionship keeps him feeling confident. We hope that he’ll have some doggy siblings in his forever home, to help him acclimate and keep him company.

In his foster home, Duke regularly spends time with children and loves them. He adores the extra attention they bring, he’s gentle and sweet with them, and even makes sure to share his toys. He would make a wonderful family dog, the “first rescue dog” that your kids will gush about for the rest of their days.

Duke’s foster mom describes him as highly trainable. He already knows some basic commands and does well on leash. His foster mom reports that he’s crate trained and relaxed in the car. She describes Duke as a “big potato” that loves couch cuddle sessions, watching TV, and playing with toys. He loves the water, and does well in the bath!

Duke was cat tested here at the rescue, and did well. We believe him to be cat tolerant and capable of living with dog savvy kitties. He coexisted peacefully for around 15 minutes in the same room as our house cat Tom. See his cat test for yourself in his video!

Duke’s perfect home has some doggy siblings to keep him company, and maybe some little ones running around to shower Duke in love and attention. He would be a great fit for just about any animal lover’s home. Duke kindly asks that you stock up on bones and squeaky toys before his arrival, because he loves and requires both.

Duke is a sweet and lovey boy, ready for his forever family. We are willing to test him with anything you need us to in order to ensure that he’s the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:
● Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family
● Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
