My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

So I've had quite an adventure recently ... I lived through hurricane Helene and then I got to take a plane ride to Waukesha along with lots of other dogs. Many of us are at HAWS, but others went to shelters throughout Wisconsin. Please come meet me and my fellow travel companions today.

If you're wondering how I ended up on the plane, let me tell you! I was living in a shelter, waiting to be adopted, but lost pets began arriving at my shelter and it was over capacity so I volunteered to move North and make room at my shelter for dogs displaced by the hurricane. So if you adopt me, you'll be my hero because you'll be saving two dogs ... me and the one I made room for back home in the south! I want nothing more than a loving home to call my own. Could it be yours? Let's meet today and find out!

Our mission is to lead the community in animal welfare and assure sanctuary for animals in need. To that end, we envision a community where all animals are treated with compassion, dignity and respect. We invite the public to join us in our cause to spread humane sentiments throughout our community for the betterment of animals and people alike.

Incorporated in 1965, HAWS has grown along with our community, evolving into a vibrant organization and a lively facility that is the #1 resource for pets and their people.
