My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chihiro is a beautiful, long-legged Chihuahua with a story as unique as her name. Named after a character in a Japanese film known for resilience, this sweet girl is truly an inspiration! After a recent accident, she bravely adapted to life on three legs, and her mellow, gentle spirit has remained unshaken.

At 7 years old and weighing 10 pounds, Chihiro is the perfect cuddle buddy for a loving, one-story home. She’s still building confidence on her three legs and needs a family who’s patient, caring, and happy to give gentle encouragement as she navigates her new way of walking. Chihiro walks well on her three legs but needs more practice navigating some challenging terrains and staircases. She is eager to improve her mobility in a supportive environment. She is fully house trained as long as you're mindful of taking her outside on a regular routine.

Chihiro would thrive in a quiet, warm home where she can feel safe and loved. If you’re ready to open your heart to a resilient, sweet companion with lots of love to give, Chihiro might just be your perfect match!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Whether you are interested in a specific dog or would like us to recommend a dog that fits you best, you can expect the following adoption process:

1. The first step in the adoption process is to complete an Application. http://rescueachi.com/adoption-application/ We will review your application and verify the information upon receiving it. If you rent your home, your landlord will be contacted for approval so it is important to make sure to include your landlord’s name and number on the application.

2. Once your application is approved, we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog in person. This interview is usually arranged by the dog’s foster family and may take place at your home or mutual location. We encourage everyone who lives in the household, especially children and other pets to meet and interact with the dog during this interview.

3. CRSD reserves the right to visit your home for an inspection during the adoption process.

4. Once you are approved, you will be asked to sign a legally binding Adoption Contract and pay an adoption fee.

Adoption Fees
Because we are an all-volunteer group, 100% of all adoption fees are used to cover medical expenses for the dogs in our rescue. Medical treatments include general health exams, dogs spay/neuter surgery, dental work, vaccinations, flea preventative medicals, microchip and microchip registration.

Any additional donation would be greatly appreciated, and this portion may be tax-deductible. Donations help us to continue to care for these special dogs.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue consisting of an all volunteer organization where all of our dogs are in private homes everyday. We do not have a shelter and our dogs are not kept in cages. Our dogs are from county animals shelters or from previous owners that are no longer able to care for their dog. All of our dogs are started on housebreaking, however, we do not guarantee that they will be housebroken. We offer education on how to housebreak a dog as well as other information on different situations. Every dog is spayed or neutered, current on shots, dewormed, frontline for fleas and ticks. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!!!
