My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NAME:
Ellie Mae

STATS:
Female, Lhasa Apso/Havanese mix, 1-2ish years, 15 lbs.

TEMPERAMENT:
Shy at first and warms up to Friendly.
Active adolescent energy.
Loves playing with other dogs, but will be fine as only dog with playdates.

SKILLS
Potty trained.
Crate trained.
Leash trained.
Good with dogs.
Will be good with children over 7 (due to her play style)
Can learn to be around cats.

MORE ABOUT ME:
Likes belly rubs.
Couch cuddler.
Likes walks.
Likes playing with other dogs.
BREED needs regular clippings to avoid matting. (every 4-6 weeks)
Would benefit from Basic Training Class.

ONE LAST THING:
This lovely lady has a bff personality; she will follow you everywhere once she gets to know you. Ellie is a bit shy at first and can be barky at times meeting men at first but warms up within a day. (She was initially a little bit barky and unsure about Caleb, but he fed her some treats and they shortly after that became friends and she was all over him). Ellie is more active than just a lapdog. Playful and slightly mouthy so would do best with kids over 7 ideally due to her play style but she is overall very friendly and loving. She has an adolescent level of energy so she would be ideal for a home who is appropriate for a young, moderately active and very playful adolescent dog. She loves playing with other dogs, but I think she would also be fine as an only dog as long as she's given regular opportunities to get out and have some play dates with other small, friendly dogs. Ellie will require grooming every 4 to 6 weeks to avoid matting. She was very matted and may need a little work to get used to being brushed more and more as well as grooming. She may try to play with the cats and annoy them or chase them a little, but she was pretty good around my cats as well so I think with the right person with cats she would do fine.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, abused, stray and neglected animals, primarily from high-kill shelters. We collaborate with other rescue groups and animal shelters to improve the lives of animals at risk for euthanisia. We work to provide solutions which seek to end the animal over-population and educate people to be responsible pet owners and "fur-ever guardians."
