My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! How are you? Let me introduce myself…I am Sitku (SeeKoo), a happy, 2-year-old Malaberian (that’s more Mal than Siberian for those not in the know) with big blue eyes and a winning smile. I was found running stray in Minidoka County with a shaved coat. The local shelter took me in and advertised my predicament, but my people never came for me. So, you see, I am looking for a new family, one that will love me until my last day.

I have a lot to offer in return. I am young, mellow, enjoy the company of other dogs (though ideally, I would prefer a female canine companion), I ride well in a vehicle, and am good with kids and people in general. My vet even loves me! I am truly just a big, sweet guy. I am presently in a foster home learning the ropes of house and crate training, and something called obedience training, which I am not yet fully comprehending. I am very food motivated and willing to please, I just need time, love, food, and a chance at a new life where I am appreciated. Are you that home? Applications are available at Moonsongmals.org.

More about this rescue

We're glad you stopped by to check out our Mallies in need of their "furever" homes! We are federally recognized non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes and their owners when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West. Please be aware that Moonsong Malamute Rescue (MMR) is not a shelter or humane society. We are affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL), which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate to AMAL, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics.

We offer educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, are able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. These funds are also used to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities who have been pulled from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
