Meet Dapper Dan, the dashing brindle wonder who’s winning hearts with his charming personality and striking good looks. This medium-sized gent arrived at the shelter as a timid stray, but he's blossomed into a confident and affectionate companion. Dapper Dan’s distinctive brindle coat is matched only by his equally impressive resilience and adaptability.
Though he’s still getting used to his new world, he’s made significant strides in overcoming his initial fears. Dapper Dan gets along well with other dogs, though he appreciates a proper introduction to ensure a smooth meeting. His journey from a scared stray to a thriving, happy pup is a testament to his strength and the love he's found along the way.
With his blend of elegance and endearing quirks, Dapper Dan is ready to bring joy and warmth to a loving home. He comes home up to date on core vaccines and preventatives, and is already neutered!
Are you ready to meet this handsome fellow and give him the forever family he deserves? He will be waiting here at JCHS for you! Give us a call at 740-314-5583 for more information! Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
