We love little Dulcie! Once she gets to know you, she is all about her people! She is eager to please, eager to play, and eager to slumber during quiet time! All around, she's a lot of fun and a wonderful companion!
Dulcie is a wonderful little dog who had a few challenges before we got her! She had been hit by a car and broke her pelvis. She recovered from her pelvis injury, but once we were given the all-clear to groom her, it was discovered she had also broken her left foot! She had a severely luxating patella on the same leg and we had that repaired. The vet examined the foot at that time and it was determined the foot did not require further intervention. So, she's a great little dog who can walk and run who often holds up her leg when she is tired.
We are seeking an adults-only home for Dulcie that will take her for the walks she loves and on outings to pet friendly locations! She LOVES people, loves other dogs and is a happy companion! Can you guess her favorite game? FETCH! She could play this all day, if allowed! She's a cray cray girl when it comes to playing fetch!
This little girl is a fantastic dog who is just looking for the right people to call family!

All HEART dogs have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies, kennel cough, distemper, parvo, adenovirus, and hepatitis. All dogs over the age of six months are tested for heartworms and, if they test positive, have either been treated or provided alternative slow-kill treatment. Dogs are provided monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Dogs are also provided additional medical care, as needed. This care may include amputations, wound repair, treatment for skin disorders, dental care, treatment for infection and other medical needs.

Their adoption process
Additional adoption info
If you find a dog or cat in which you are interested, please email us for an adoption application! This is how our adoption process begins! Our organization is made up of volunteers who work full time jobs when not doing rescue. We generally have access to our email throughout the day, but not the phone, so please email for quickest response! Because we are at work, we cannot always answer you right away. Please give us time!
You can also fill out an application to be pre-approved to adopt, if you don't see a particular breed and/or dog of interest on our site. Once approved, HEART will hold your application for three months and contact you when a dog or cat enters our program that we believe might be a good match for your family.
It takes about a week to ten days to process an application, depending on the time available to our volunteers and how quickly references call back. If we must ask for information not included in the application, or we discover information not addressed in the application, the process does get bogged down and may take longer.
Our adoption fees vary depending on the type of animal of interest. Generally, cats are between $95 and $115. Dogs tend to be between $150 and $225.

More about this rescue
We are a nonprofit, all volunteer, limited admission rescue organization funded by private donations. We are committed to responsiblly re-homing homeless and unwanted dogs and cats.
We are a limited admissions rescue. We can only take in as many animals as our foster homes can safely and responsibly care for. We do not euthanize animals to make room for more. We simply stop taking in new animals until we have room. Each homeless companion animal will remain in our care until he or she finds a new home.
