Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Holly is a cute 2-year old female Shepherd mix who was surrendered by her family on November 5, 2024 because she did not get along with a young child in her home.
Holly has a black-and-brown short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with hopeful trusting eyes, a brown mask, black shading on her muzzle, and large floppy ears.
Holly weighs 40-45 lbs and is the perfect size 'pup' to snuggle up with and share snacks while you watch tv or read a good book.
Holly may look familiar to some of our Volunteers and Facebook followers since she originally came to HSOV in January 2024. Holly (fka Harley) was found in the Lowell Ohio area at that time and was not reclaimed. The individual who found Harley indicated that she was good with other dogs.
These photos were taken on the evening of January 23, 2024 when HSOV Volunteers Angel Grosklos and Jennie Payton Sherrard treated Harley to some out-of-cage time in the lobby of our shelter and assisted Harley with 'glamour photos'. Harley has a fun-loving personality and was full of playful puppy energy. This little dollbaby loved attention from Angel and Jennie and showed her thanks by giving them lots of sweet puppy kisses.
Harley was spayed on March 12, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.
Since she was not reclaimed, Harley went home with a foster family who adopted her on March 12th as soon as she was spayed. She was renamed Holly by her new family.
Holly was returned by her heartbroken family on November 5, 2024 because she was not doing well with a small child in their home. Her family loved Holly very much and was quite attached to her, so the decision to part with her was not an easy one.
Her family provided this information about Holly:
Holly has been kept indoors and is housetrained, and she is also crate-trained (but not in a large crate because she will chew through the crate).
Holly does not do well with young/small children. She had shared her home with cats and was ok with them. Holly enjoyed short walks each day but mostly she enjoyed being a 'lap dog' (smile).
Holly has been 'home schooled' and know several basic commands (sit, stay, and shake paws).
Like most dogs and cats, Holly is frightened of vacuum cleaners.
Holly exhibits some puppy-like behavior (chewing and digging). Her favorite toys/activities are rope toys, tug-of-war, and mosh with music.
We have Holly on our "needs updated pictures" list but wanted to share her original photos quickly so that potential adopters would know that she is back in our shelter and is looking for another fabulous home (with no small/young children).
