What a sweet little boy! Hopscotch is really coming into his own these days! Before entering our program, he lived in one home and didn't go out to see the world, so he's a little shy and timid with new people and places. However, since coming to HEART, Hopscotch has been meeting new people and has just started going on short adventures!
This little guy will need to continue exploring our world, going on walks, hiking our trails and making weekly road trips with his new people! He has a little catching up to do, still needs to learn his basic commands, and is doing well learning his basic manners!
Hopscotch was born with a deformed front foot. He doesn't know it's deformed and runs and plays just fine with the odd foot. He doesn't require any surgery for the foot and there is no special care needed, other than to check it periodically to make sure he hasn't gotten any cuts on the pad. It's a non-issue for Hopscotch, but is a bit of a conversation starter for his foster!
With his little odd foot, and because he has such a great personality, we think Hopscotch would make a nice therapy dog! Therapy dogs are trained and, usually, registered with a group that works with hospitals and nursing homes to make visits to provide comfort to those who have to stay for any length of time. He's a good size for the work and, with proper training, may thrive with the work and attention!
