The woman cried when she told TC Paw she’d lost her house and asked us to take her cat so that she’d have a chance for a safe life in a loving home. Ava looked a little rough at the time – thin, spooked, and with most of the fur from her shoulders to her tail gone. Inflammation, maybe stress-related, usually causes that, so we put her in a foster home and started treatment with inflammation-reducing steroids. For a while, there was little progress, and then suddenly the fur kicked in, and now she’s gaining on gorgeous. She’s a character, this one. Busy, quirky, curious, and responsive. If something is happening, she wants to be there. Her voice is insistent. “Pick me up, hold me, pet me, give me kisses and head bonks! And treats!” she says, as she runs alongside you. She tolerates other friendly cats and sometimes plays chase games with them, but she might like a home with fewer cats in it than the several currently in her foster home. We think she’d be a good lap cat if she didn’t have to compete for a spot on the sofa in the evening. Ava is a good eater and tidy litter box user. She will be a fine source of entertainment to the lucky people who choose her.
