How I Arrived At NHS: I lived in a very loving home, but due to unforeseen circumstances I could not live there anymore. I am a super sweet boy with energy to spare. I enjoy other dogs, it`s great to have a friend, but I do play kind of intense, so not all dogs jive with me. I will chase cats, so would need a home wthout them. I know sit, shake and lay down. If you point at a rug and tell me to `wipe your feet, wipe your paws`-I will do so- but I will need a treat afterward. I also know jump and spin. I was taken to the lake to learn to swim (with a lifevest), but I am still kind of afraid of the water. However, I do know how to ride with someone on a paddle board. I am definitely a velcro pup - I love being with people. I do still jump on people when excited. I have been training to not do that- I am starting to understand the word `off` and will most times sit when told `off`. I am still a pup and training classes would be great for me! And you! I was adopted but returned because I liked to grab things from people and run with them. I really need someone to get me the exercise I need, as I do better when I`m worn out. I`m just an energetic pup still!
Good With Kids: I`d do best with older kids or adults only please. We do recommend a slow introduction Good With Cats: No. He does like to chase them Good With Dogs: Possibly. We do recommend a slow introduction.
All the dogs at Northwoods Humane Society have had a basic exam by NHS veterinary staff. They have been microchipped, tested for Heartworm (if over 6 months of age), had at least their first distemper combo vaccination (2nd if here longer), dewormed with a general dewormer, and had a flea and tick treatment applied if applicable. All the dogs will be spayed or neutered before they are adopted to their new permanent homes. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.

NHS works to place animals in good, loving homes. Potential families must complete a pre-adoption application. References are required and checked. There may be a 24 to 48 hour waiting period before adoption is finalized. All responsible adults in the family must be in agreement. The goal of NHS is for each adoption to be permanent.
