My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is PIPPA and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Retriever Mix

  • Age: 2 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 37 lbs (17 kg)

  • Height: 62 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 80 cm (head to butt)

  • Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY - I was lost, lonely, and so hungry, just wandering the streets. One day, a kind person found me and took me to a cozy place where I could relax, eat, and feel cared for. It’s such a nice change! Now I’m just waiting for the right person to see me and give me my forever home. I’m ready for all the love and adventures ahead!

TEMPERAMENT - When I first arrived at the shelter, I was a little nervous and unsure about everything. New people, new place, new smells—it was a lot! But I’m a quick learner, and after just a few weeks, I started to feel more comfortable. Now, I’m all about the love and attention! I’m not shy anymore, and I absolutely *love* getting pets and cuddles. I’ll even give you a kiss in return, if you’re up for it! I’m also super playful—I enjoy running around with other dogs and going for walks. I might pull a little on the leash, but I’m friendly with everyone, whether they’re humans, dogs, or even cars! I’m well-behaved, though I might need to learn a few boundaries when it comes to playing. I don’t have any resource-guarding issues and I’m used to eating my meals surrounded by other dogs without a problem. I can get a bit whiny if I don’t get enough attention (I just want to be close to you!), so I’d love an active family who’s ready to keep up with me and help me learn to chill at home. I’m ready to be your best friend! Here I am being the best girl at my photoshoot!

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium / High - I’ve got lots of energy and love to play! Whether it’s running around with other dogs or going for walks, I’m always ready for some fun. I might pull a little on the leash because I’m so excited, but I’m friendly with everyone I meet. I need an active family who loves to move as much as I do and can keep me busy. I’m always up for a good time!

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown.

  • Dogs –  Yes. I enjoy playing with other dogs at the shelter. I eat my meals surrounded by other dogs and don’t demonstrate any resource guarding. Here I am eating with my friends!

  • Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – Work in progress. I love walks and sometimes pull when on the leash because I am so excited! I am friendly to everyone I meet though. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!

  • House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I was taken to the vet as soon as I was rescued from the street. My bloodwork came back normal, I tested negative for TVT, distemper, and parvo. I am currently working on gaining weight, and my caretakers are making sure I get the nourishment I need. Overall, I am in great health.

  • I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 (including applicable taxes), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.
