My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Eddie, Your New Favorite Adventure Chihuahua!

Eddie is the funniest little guy, and he’s ready to bring a whole lot of love and laughs to his future family! This perfect-sized 3-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing in at 17 lbs, has the best of both worlds—small enough to curl up on your lap (one of his favorite spots) yet big enough to join you on every adventure. With his adorable curly tail (we suspect there may be a touch of spitz in his lineage), Eddie is pure charm from nose to tail!

Eddie’s story began in a small high-kill shelter in Carlsbad, NM, where he quickly won the hearts of the staff with his outgoing, friendly nature. Though no one claimed him, Eddie made the best of his time there, showing off his social skills with staff and pups alike. Farfel’s Rescue received an urgent plea on election morning for this tiny bundle of joy, and Eddie is now here in Boulder, CO, ready to find his forever family.

Eddie is a social butterfly who loves meeting other dogs of all sizes. When he arrived at his foster home, he quickly made friends with a whole pack of dogs, proving he’s up for a good time anywhere and with dogs of all sizes and personalities! Eddie is great on a leash and may even be potty-trained, though we can’t make any promises just yet. He’d thrive in a home where he’ll have plenty of company and affection, making him a great fit for an individual, family with older kids (he prefers gentle handling), or active retirees.

This little guy is eager to learn, and a positive reinforcement training class would be ideal to help him master new skills. Farfel's believes in the importance of training for every dog’s development and offers guidance for both in-person and virtual classes. Eddie’s adopter will also have access to our one-week adoption trial, ensuring the perfect match and giving you the chance to bond with him at your own pace.

Eddie is up-to-date on vaccinations and will be neutered at our local vet at no cost to his adopter. Farfel’s Rescue has been helping dogs like Eddie find their forever homes since 2005, and we’re thrilled to offer you the opportunity to get to know this lovable pup in his new journey.

If Eddie sounds like the loyal, adventure-loving companion you’ve been waiting for, please fill out our adoption application at Farfel’s Rescue Adoption Form www.farfels.com/adopt . Don’t wait too long—Eddie’s ready to be your new best friend!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
