My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Checkers is a neutered male lab mix born 12/2023. He is current on age appropriate vaccines & microchipped. He weighs around 30lbs.

Checkers is a confident, happy, energetic & playful boy! He gets along with other dogs & all sized humans. We are unsure about cats. He is potty, crate & leash/harnessed trained. He loves all toys & anything to chew on. He would love a secured, attached yard to run & play in! He is very food motivated, which is great for training!

Checkers is deaf  & it does not slow him down one bit. He is working on ASL command training with his foster family & has learned sit, stay, treats & all gone. We do feel he would do well in a home with another dog that he can learn from & follow for guidance.

Please complete an adoption application at www.pathwaysforpaws.com. If he fits your family and lifestyle, you will be contacted within 48 hours.

Additional adoption info

In some circumstances, meeting the dog and a home check are done at the same time if the dog is ready to be adopted. We do have conversation with potential adopters prior to them meeting the dog. If they are interested in adopting a puppy who is not ready for adoption (not altered, not UTD, etc) they are able to put a hold on the pup until ready for adoption.

More about this rescue

Pathways for Paws was founded in October 2019. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill, animal welfare organization.

Our mission is to make spay/neuter & vaccinations affordable to those in our communities. By achieving this, we will help prevent the neglect & abuse of dogs. All dogs in our care are spay/neutered, given the age appropriate vaccinations and microchipped before going to their FURever families.

We work with rescues & fellow animal advocates to continue growing a network of volunteers and supporters.
