Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I am a sweet 1 year old lab mix who can initially be shy but give me a little time and I quickly become your BEST FRIEND! I love playing with other dogs and wouldn't mind having a doggy friend in my foster home. I haven't been around small kids or cats though.
From his foster: Bakugo is quite the name for young kids so we've been calling this handsome fellow Bucko.
Bucko is the biggest, goofiest, love bug. He loves taking walks and then cuddling on the couch. His head just melts in his hand when you're petting him. While on walks he is easy to walk but if he sees a rabbit or squirrel he will pull a bit and whine. However, in the house we are doing so intros with the resident cats and he hasn't shown intense interest in them.
Bucko had not previously been around school aged children. At first he was a bit hesitant about these bouncy pint sized humans but has quickly warmed up and decided they are fun to play with. He also loves playing with the resident dogs. At times he doesn't realize his size so we are working on that. He loves balls but doesn't realize some of the fun is bringing them back. Stuffed toys are the perfect thing to shred but he loves going to the toy bucket and finding treasures to play with.
Bucko is a perfect house guest. He's potty trained and will stand at the door to let you know it's time to go. While he may give you a bit of a mournful wail when put in his kennel he quiets quickly, especially if treats are given. He loves cuddles and food. Bucko is a true delight and will make a great addition to a home.
Here is my rescue story!
He's only about a year old and came into the shelter back in June, along with his brother Midoriya. Shelter life was scary for Bakugo, and he would pancake out of fear. To think of him feeling that way makes us so sad. Shelter staff and volunteers kept working with him, and after months he came around and learned to trust. However, time is not anyone's friend in the sheltering system, and Bakugo, having had no one expressing interest in adopting him, found himself on the dreaded list and quickly running out of time. Our Minnesota rescue partner said Yes just in the nick of time, and we had two fosters able to arrange things to split the time that was needed to bridge him to transport coming up on November 2nd. He is enjoying time in foster, going on long walks, meeting new human and canine friends, and learning what it's like to have a home and be loved. He's still a little timid but loves his foster mom and is quickly becoming her little shadow. We can't wait to see Bakugo's happily-ever-after story in Minnesota!

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
