My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This past summer the were contacted by a concerned citizen about a rabbit that was living on her street and had a broken leg. After she sent us a photo we realized that the rabbit’s leg wasn't broken, but half of her front leg was missing. It was literally "broken off."  We assembled some of our best wranglers and tried to capture the elusive bun, but she evaded us on that hot, rainy summer night. We left an exercise pen and carrier behind for the homeowners, and they were able to lure her to safety the very next evening. Overall, Chamomile, named after the street she had been living on, was in relatively good shape, considering she had been outside for a while and had lost part of her leg. We don't know how it happened, but we know it must have been a life or death struggle.

We are happy to report that our little tripod bunny is doing great! She has learned to love life indoors and uses a litter box. She is a good eater and her favorite greens are romaine, cilantro and parsley. She even likes collard greens on occasion. Chamomile can be sassy at times and will give you a grunt when you try to move her stuff or if you don't feed her fast enough, but after all that she has been through we will give her a break if she wants to sound off from time to time. On our vet's recommendation we had the remainder of Chamomile's leg removed to avoid any infection. She has been vaccinated against RHDV2 (a deadly rabbit disease) and spayed. She has adjusted to life with only 3 legs and doesn't let it slow her down. Chamomile is ready for a permanent, full-time position as beloved house rabbit and companion!

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
