My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shiesty ! She was brought to HSWC activity center for an adventure weekend retreat with her best friend Cane.

💗💗💗💗💗
Shiesty has the best personality! Although it's tempting to rhyme fiesty-Shiesty, it's a bit over the top and not all that accurate.
She is bubbly and fun and likes adventure. She can be full of energy and animation. But calms down with regular exercise. She has a spunky and spirited personality. She is also very loving and soaks up all the attention from her friends.

💗💗💗💗💗
Beautiful !
She's quite the glamour girl, dressed to the nines with her own monogrammed necklace! Shiny coat and sparkling eyes. Striking appearance. 57 pounds.

💗💗💗💗💗
She is active and strong and could benefit from some basic obedience training to help give her some structure her previous life did not have. Strong walker. After exercise, get ready for wonderful loving hugs.

We know she will find a great life either with Cane or standing on her own.
It will just take some TLC...
•Time for her to learn how to manage her enthusiasm.
•Love from her people.... and
•Consistent training routine.

🌕😺 Cats are very exciting when they crawl under cars. They are fun to chase outside. Some training may be necessary to teach her good manners and some self control. She did not seem interested in the inside cats.
🟢🐶 No negative reactivity with dogs. She loves her bff Cane. Other meet and greets will be required to determine sibling compatibility.
🟢👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 She is a social butterfly and good with people.
🐾 Daily walks recommended.
⚠️ secure fenced yard recommended.
Come and be a part of her journey. Watch her grow and learn to be her best self.
Stay tuned and find out how sweet Shiesty can be rescued for love. She is going to make an amazing best friend!!

A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
