Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Kaz, a 4-year-old feline with a big heart. He's a little on the shy side, preferring quiet corners and soft whispers to boisterous play and loud noises. Kaz is the kind of cat who needs time to trust, to understand that he's safe. But once he does, his love is unending. Patience is key with Kaz, he's still adjusting to the world around him. But every day is a new step forward, a new chance for him to grow. Adopt Kaz and witness a love story unfold in your home. This gentle soul is ready to trust again and fill your life with purrs and headbutts of affection. Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!
ADOPTION APPLICATION: All adoption applications are completed at the shelter unless otherwise noted.

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
