Girly is an absolute rockstar and volunteer/staff favorite at MACC!
Girly wants to be friends with every human and dog she meets and she forms strong bonds quickly with the humans around her. Thus, when meeting potential adopters here at the shelter, Girly is sometimes more preoccupied with the MACC staff or volunteer in the room than the potential adopter, which has caused some people to pass on her. If only they could see what a gem they’re missing out on!
Girly loves to show off her tricks (Sit, Shake) for some treats (food, pets). She takes treats so nicely that you could trust a tiny human to give her a doggie cookie and not have to worry about an accidental tooth scrape. Girly also does well on the leash if she knows her handler will hold her accountable to not pulling. Girly LOVES to be “out and about” in the community and is a quintessential brewery dog. She rides well in the car and also loves to explore, so going hiking would be another activity she’d enjoy doing with you!
One hidden talent of Girly’s? This thicc pibble (/bulldog?) will climb a tree faster than a spider monkey if she sees a squirrel. That’s right, folks. Prey drive activation: on. Thus, Girly isn’t a fit for a home with small animals (gerbils/guinea pigs/ferrets) or cats. But dogs? Girly loves them all.
In the shelter’s playgroup program, Girly is a “greeter dog”. These dogs assign themselves as the welcoming committee to any new dog entering the run and make it their mission to ensure that the newbie is having a good time. Basically, she’s a hostess with the most-ess! Girly has loved every dog she has met in the playgroup program here at MACC – and she’s met well over two dozen dogs – and would absolutely love to share a home with another playful pup or two. You can see this social butterfly in action, here (spoiler, we have 98 videos of her!): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS5FLiVr89sokVDQCnDfkpVWBKWdL7n1i
If you like big mutts and want a dog confident enough to rock a noisy belly dancer costume for Halloween, come meet Girly. She deserves to find a furever home and to be loved and adored as much by a furever family as she is by her MACC family.
