My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Scout! This adorable little guy is about 7 months old and has been through quite a lot! He was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina and required a week-long hospitalization due to a severe eye infection and upper respiratory infection. Despite their greatest efforts, they were not able to save his eye and it ended up rupturing. They were very concerned about him losing sight in his other eye as well, but thank goodness they were able to save that one! After lots of medications, lots of nebulizing treatments, and one eye removal surgery, little Scout was finally ready to go to a foster home! It is interesting that the kittens who have been poked and prodded so many times and have had to receive so many yucky medications are the ones that end up being the most friendly and affectionate. They must realize that we are all trying so hard to help them. Scout has such an incredible personality and such a loving spirit. He loves nothing more than to be pet and snuggled. He'll play if you initiate, but he's not a crazy hyper kitten at all. He'll run to the door to greet you when you get home, and he'll follow you around the house.  He slept on his foster mom's pillow every night. He is really a special guy, and we know you'll love him as much as we do!

This cat is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV/Felv.

If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit a 'Cat Adoption Application'   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms
This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as 'available for adoption', that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up 'curb side'. Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:

Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.

More about this rescue

Visit our site at www.DelawarePuppyRescue.org if you are interested in one of our pets.

DPR was established in 2004 as a 501(c) non profit organize and an all volunteer rescue organization. We are not a shelter. We rescue both cats and dogs. We care for these pets in our foster homes until proper and stable homes are found through a multi-step adoption process. Our ultimate goal is to match families with our pets so that they live out their lives in loving, educated, safe homes for the remainder of their lives. Our additional goals in rescue are to educate the public in the importance of spaying/neutering and exposing the truth behind pet store puppys and the horrors of puppy mills.
