My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hatch date: Approx. 1989

Good Boy is a 35 yr old African Grey Congo, assumed Male.

He spent his whole life in the same home.

His dad (owner) got sick and he was left with his Mom (owner).

She loved Good Boy but didn't have much bird experience so he was mostly by himself in a room with the door

closed to keep the cat out.

His owner is older and thought it was best to rehome him.

He is currently living in a foster home with a cat and two other birds.

He doesn't pay any attention to the cat.

He doesn't seem to mind the other birds.

When the Love bird lands on his cage he puffs up and crawls up to the top.

She is smart enough to fly away lol.

He is on a seed/pellet mix diet and does enjoy fresh fruit and veggies.

Bananas and corn are his favorite.

He is mostly quiet until he wants to go to bed.

He likes to be covered halfway around dinnertime.

He will let you know when he is ready.

He hangs out quietly in his cage until lights out around 7:30-8:00.

He will hang out on top of his cage when he is let out but usually goes back in shortly after.

We would like to see him go to a quieter home living situation.

He will not do well in a busy household with children running about.

He is not an aggressive bird, but there is always trust to be earned at first.

His foster dad can reach in his cage and he doesn't seem to mind.

He will gently take treats from your hand.

Almonds are his favorite.

He does say Hello and Whistles (wolf call).

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.

For the Love of Birds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of companion birds. We are a network of volunteers throughout New Jersey, and surrounding areas. We take in birds in need of new homes, and place them in nurturing and educational foster homes until a loving new family is found.
