Meet Onyx, the cutest little black fluff ball with a purr that could melt your heart! This sweet guy is full of energy and loves to play with strings, little balls, and especially his siblings. Onyx has experience with both a large dog and another cat — he may be a bit shy at first but quickly warms up and joins in the fun! He’d thrive in a home with other furry siblings who enjoy playtime just as much as he does.
Onyx is a fantastic wrestler, especially with his brother, and he’s a pro with the litter box. As soon as you pick him up, he starts purring nonstop. He’s a natural cuddle buddy, snuggling up as you watch TV and always ready to be part of the family. Curiosity runs strong in this little one, and he loves to explore and chase anything that moves, especially strings!
Onyx came to us all the way from a shelter in Kentucky with his brother and sister, and he absolutely adores people. He’s quick to make new friends, always seeking out love and attention. He’s a hearty eater, too, and will no doubt make an amazing companion for his forever family. Are you ready to bring home this loving little adventurer?
Onyx is 8 weeks old and 3 lbs. All cats have had a vet exam, are up to date on vaccinations, have been given a dewormer and treated for fleas and ear mites if needed. If you are interested in meeting this cat please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

More about this rescue
Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.
We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.
This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
