My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Odin Sock`s life took a turn due to his owner`s hardship and he lost his life long home, along with 2 other large dogs and has some small dog experience too. A meet and greet can be set to see if your dog will love to have him as a friend. He showed nice house manners throughout his life, managing for 9-12 hrs without a human at home and navigating a doggy door easily. Some of his favorite things are getting attentions from people and playing chase and having a good chew bone. He slept in a doggy bed at night. Life is tough in a shelter after 8 long years in a home, he would love to return to some home comforts and people of his very own,,and a doggy bed of his own. He`s heartworm negative, nuetered and a perfect size for him so he`s ready to leave right away. We hope to make his stay a short one. He`s advocated for by his friends and fans including ClassicCaninesATX who are helping to connect him with bridges leading home.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
