My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hazel!

Hazel is a sweet, 6-month-old, all-natural red female who came to DPRPA on a Greater Goods Charities flight from the south after she was picked up as a stray. She was named for her beautiful hazel eyes that will melt your heart!

Due to her hard start in life, she is scared but curious of new surroundings and people, however with the help of a calm household and a physical fenced yard she will thrive. Hazel loves other dogs and would do best in a home with a doggie brother to help show her the ways of the world. She is currently living with 3 dogs while learning to be a dog and working on potty training.

Hazel is spayed and up to date on all of her vaccines and preventatives, and she is located in New Ringgold, PA. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Hazel, please fill out an application at www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DPR/Dog

Go meet their pets

All dogs are in foster homes in various parts of central and eastern PA as well as central NJ. We do adopt dogs out of state as long as the potential adopter is willing to drive to where the dog is being fostered for a meet and greet and to take the dog home. We do not ship dogs and we do not have a central location.

More about this rescue

DPR of PA, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Pam Taylor and incorporated under its present name in 1989. The organization consists of a network of foster homes around Harrisburg, Reading, and York, PA, as well as central NJ. Foster homes are always needed. If you can foster, please complete our application at https://www.dprpa.org/adopt-foster.

All Dobes that come into our rescue receive a full physical and behavioral exam and temperament evaluation which helps match them with the appropriate family. In addition, all dogs are spayed or neutered and current on vaccinations. We also serve as a resource to educate and assist Dober owners and are here to offer knowledgeable advice and answer questions if needed about your Dobe.
