My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meaning "beautiful lady, Belladonna is one of our rescue's newest who we're certain will win your heart!

This sweetheart is more than just a good companion, she'll be hopelessly devoted to you! Spending the majority of her time right by her foster parent's side, Belladonna loves nothing more than cuddling and staying close to the people she trusts. She loves sitting on laps and reminding people of her company. Pets are something she accepts endless of, so an owner who's more on an at-home schedule would best fit Belladonna's needs. A home with children or multiple members is also ideal as Belladonna rarely spends time by herself. As far as other cats and dogs go, right now a home without other pets seems to be the best fit for her transition, but this doesn't rule out the possibility of having her meet your fur babies for a possible new friendship!

Up for being a sous-chef? Belladonna's foster highlights her rigorous "biscuit making schedule and jokes that you'll certainly be the dough for many of her recipes. She also has quite the voice and has learned how to use it for treats-smart! When not cuddling right by your side or entertaining you with her funny personality, this kitty scores high on the playfulness assessment. She loves chasing around string mice and wand toys specifically. Her foster believes these are her favorite games because they involve interaction with people. Belladonna takes her playtime seriously and will get antsy if she hasn't exercised enough, so an owner who can fulfill this time would make her the happiest.

We can't wait for an active and attentive family to meet their newest member!

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.

Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
