ABOUT STELLA
Meet Stella, our out-of-this-world kitty! This little space traveler was brought into HAP by a good samaritan, who noticed a kitty was being bullied by the other cats in the feral colony she was feeding. We found out quickly that Stella was blind, which made her very stressed in the shelter, so we decided to send her to a foster home to decompress. Unfortunately, that also stressed out Stella, so we brought her back and put her on some anti-anxiety medication, which calmed her down greatly!
From there, we started to notice that our little friend was very different from other cats with her condition; She would pace in circles, no matter what was in her way. She was often found stuck behind the fridge or the storage bench. She wasn't able to properly use the litter box and would often make a mess of her cage. After a thorough vet exam, she was put on an anti-seizure medication, which improved her issues but didn't manage her condition fully. While we believe she may never be a "normal" cat again, we know that Stella is a happy cat and that is what's most important.
*Stella gets along beautifully with other cats, but because of her inability to see social cues, some cats find her off-putting. We don't recommend she go to a home with dogs or young children.
**Stella is blind, which hinders her ability to locate her food and litterbox. She is also currently on seizure medication, which we believe is helping her be more coherent.
If interested in adopting, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.
