My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Finley is being fostered in PA.

Finley is a very sweet, gentle, 8 year old mixed breed boy who loves all people and gets along great with other dogs and cats. He is much more interested in his human and being right with his human than he is about other animals.
Finley is a spry, healthy little man who was excellent for his grooming and at his first vet appointment where he had blood drawn and was given vaccines. Everyone comments on how sweet he is and his foster mom thinks he's pretty much perfect.
Finley has some vision and is very able to follow his foster mom all over the house. He quickly learned how to go up stairs and he can come down them well now, unless they are new to him. He is apprehensive on unfamiliar stairs and needs help getting started but then he's fine.
Finley has sporadic skin issues that seem to cause his hair to be a bit thinner on his back end and belly. These issues may be caused by seasonal allergies but we are not exactly certain of the cause yet.
Finley appears to understand potty training but because he is not neutered, he is marking a little, living in a house with other dogs, but he wears a belly band very well. This should improve significantly after he is neutered. Finley is scheduled to be neutered on November 20th and then he will be all set to find his forever family. They will be very lucky people to add this adorable man to their home. He has so much to give and wants nothing more than to be your best friend.
BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Finley has recovered from his neuter surgery and is waiting for his forever family to find him.
He is an absolute love bug and will make the perfect little companion.
He continues to follow his foster mom all around the house and insists on being on her lap every time she sits on the recliner.
Finley is very good with the cats and other dogs in his foster home and navigates stairs and follows his foster mom to the door to go outside. He responds very well to his name.
Although he is 8 years old, he acts much more like a 3-4 year old. He loves to play with many different types of toys and especially loves to play tug with his human. He is adorable to watch choose his toy from the toy box.
Finley's skin issues have also cleared up with antibiotics.
Finley is an amazing, healthy little man who is patiently waiting for his forever family.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Interested in adopting a BDRA dog? Simply fill out our application.

All of our adult dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive. All puppies are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive.

We ask a $400 adoption fee. This does not begin to cover the vet work we do on our dogs, which is why we are always fundraising! For unaltered dogs (such as puppies too young to be spayed/neutered prior to adoption), we now require an additional $100 spay/neuter deposit that is refundable upon BDRA receiving proof of spay/neuter and rabies vaccination.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Can I meet the dog before I submit an application?
All of our dogs are cared for in private foster homes. We cannot make arrangements for private meet and greets until an application is received and references have been checked. That being said, many of our dogs are at local public events where you can certainly go to meet them.

Will you transport the dog to me? What if I live in Canada?
Generally yes, as long as you do not live more than 18 hours from a dog’s foster home. If you are unsure, please email adoption@blinddogrescue.org.

More about this rescue

We are a small group of volunteers spread throughout the United States (and even a couple in Canada) who are dedicated to advocating for blind and visually impaired dogs by rescuing dogs in shelters, helping blind dog owners, and educating the public. We formed in 2009, though our members have many years of experience with rescue and blind dogs.
