I am 6-7 months old and weigh about 43 lbs. I am a happy, playful, and friendly guy who doesn't even mind sharing my kennel with other dogs here at the shelter, we're all friends and I love the company!
I am a social boy who loves to meet new people and other dogs. For still being a young guy, I have a mellow to moderate energy level, and I walk nicely on a leash.
Overall... I'm a really great guy, if I don't say so myself ;)
From his foster: Doby is a very sweet and loyal dog. He likes to please and is a great companion. He is social and wants to be near humans. He likes to follow and is easy to walk with a leash and without a leash at dog parks. He does not try to escape. He prefers women, but also is loyal to men-just not as trusting yet of men. He is easily overwhelmed by machinery sounds and strangers right now-but this is improving with experiences every day. When he is overwhelmed he goes in his carrier/kennel or to his family for protection. He has stamina--he loves to run trails with us on a leash, yet is not hyper or super energetic. He is pretty chill and trainable. In less than a week he was house trained and learned to sit, stay, and go to his kennel on command. He does, however, require additional training and socialization.
We believe he was not socialized, trained or introduced to feeding/sleeping/house training routines. But he has adjusted quickly. After less than a week, he is house trained, and content eating two times per day-prefers near and at same time as us (morning and dinner). He prefers canned food-pate, or Blues stew. We mixed this with dry-Royal Canin gastrointestinal dry food. He now has good sleeping habits at night. We started introducing him to dogs at the dog park. He is shy, can get stressed, but he is not aggressive. When he gets overwhelmed he seeks protection from his family, or retreats (in the house to his carrier/kennel). He loves to be petted. He gives kisses and wags his tail with delight. He sheds slightly, not heavily. He is not snuggly right now, but perhaps with time. However, he is very sweet and kind. And if we could, we would be his permanent family.

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
