Pumpkin has blossomed from a timid and shy little 8-year-old girl into a vivacious 26-pound beagle. In less than 2 weeks, with the help of my dog and my 2 garage cats, Pumpkin has gained the confidence of a true beagle. She acts much younger than a senior.
She has not been introduced to smaller children but enjoyed the pre-teen girls she met at the dog
park. She also introduced herself to ALL people and dogs that entered although she did not engage in play.
She rides in the car well tethered to a seatbelt. Pumpkin has not been crated as she has officially claimed a dog bed for her sleeping and sanctuary and has done well. She stays in her bed even though she has the run of the house when her foster parents are gone. She has been alone for up to 8 hours and has done great with no accidents.
Pumpkin is a medium-energy dog who is still unsure what to do with toys. The first small stuffed toy she had she tried to bury. She seems to like chew bones. She really enjoys the occasional stuffed bone and of course, she likes to get treats from her foster mom. Puppy mini milk bones are good.
She is leashed to go outside and then released into the fenced yard to do her business. She has visited some stores with her foster mom and has done well.
Pumpkin is working on some commands like ‘come’, ‘outside’, and ‘stay’; they are still a work in progress.
Pumpkin is a sweet girl and her only dream is to find a family of her own. If you think she is the girl of
your dreams, please contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor or fill in an adoption application.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

More about this rescue

BREW Midwest is the midwest region of BREW Inc. (Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare). We are a network of volunteers and foster homes across Western PA, OH, MI, IN and IL.

Our Mission:
*Rescue beagles in danger of euthanasia from shelters
*Help beagles that have been removed from neglectful or abusive situations
*Educate families about beagles and their special qualities
*Find kind, loving families for homeless or abandoned beagles.

BREW is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing beagles. The main focus is beagles in shelters that are faced with imminent extermination. BREW works with shelters and animal control facilities and adopt beagles to families throughout our region. In addition to our rescue efforts, BREW is dedicated to increasing public awareness of pet overpopulation and encouraging pet owners to spay and neuter their pets. Towards that end, no beagle over six months of age is adopted from BREW without being spayed or neutered. BREW also works to alert people about the disadvantages of purchasing pets from a "pet store."
