Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Brooklyn is a pit mix who is about 7 years old. Her rescuer found her running through a junkyard when she was an older puppy and couldn’t leave her there to fend for herself.
Tragically her rescuer passed away this week and she left alone with him until the next morning when help came.
She is currently with a family member who can not keep her, so we are trying to find her a loving home.
Unfortunately Brooklyn is only up to date on her rabies. She is not spayed so she will need to be, and will need her vaccines. She has skin allergies that are being treated, but that’s will have to be kept up with.
Brooklyn is a very sweet dog. She walks well on a leash and takes treats so gently. She has shown no signs of aggression or guarding. She is house-trained and non-destructive. Brooklyn knows sit and down. She is very treat-motivated, which will help with any training you may want to do. She just loves attention from everyone and, at times, will bark just to get some love. She allows full-body contact, is nondestructive, and shows no signs of separation anxiety.
Right now, Brooklyn appears to be nonreactive towards dogs, but she should probably be an only dog… at least until she adjusts to losing the only person she ever knew. She would do well with older children, probably around 13 and up, as her human sister is around that age.
Brooklyn just wants a place to call home, be loved, and give love in return.

Just contact us at rescueridgeshelter@gmail.com, or call us at 732-681-3450, and we will be happy to provide you with an adoption application and, upon review of personal reference checks, vet checks, and possibly home visits, you may be chosen as a permanent home for that special companion. Please note that filling out an application does NOT automatically approve anyone for a specific adoption. We want to assure that the companion and adoptive family are each going to benefit from the adoption, and that it is as permanent an adoption as possible. We ask for help through donations to help cover the costs associated with keeping the companions up-to-date on vaccinations and spay/neuter programs. We request a donation of $100 for cats, and $200 - $400 for dogs, depending on the specific rescue. We are a tax-exempt organization so that any donation you make to Rescue Ridge is tax deductible, and all costs go directly to all of the animals we rescue.

More about this rescue
Rescue Ridge is a 'last-chance' rescue. Staffed 100% through the efforts and donations of volunteers, we find homes for animals that other shelters and people have given up on. Through the kindness of various boarding kennels and foster families, rescued animals are cared for until they find that final family to love them.
Rescue Ridge began by rescuing healthy, beautiful, animals that were slated to be euthanized through no fault of their own. We felt it was unfair, that because their 'humans' had no more use for them, their days were numbered. We have tried to give each and every one of these companions a new lease on life. We rescued dogs, cats, horses and any other animal that we were able to help with our limited resources. And since we have limited space, we are always searching for those willing to help foster these wonderful creatures. We are always happy to provide information on options available to anyone needing to re-home their pet for whatever reason. It is our belief that education regarding pet ownership and its responsibilities is the best hope these companions have. You will have unending rewards when you give a second chance to one of these wonderful friends. They truly are the champions of giving unconditional love.
