My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

REBEL & JEWEL—
Halloween is through, Thanksgiving is on the way, so basically Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! Our precious new bonded two have lived the likes of a real-life Hallmark movie, now they’re looking for their quintessential happy ending, and they’re hoping it’s with YOU! Meet our extraordinarily brave little dogs, REBEL and JEWEL, and my oh my, have these two got a story for you!
We could not be more excited to finally welcome Rebel and Jewel to Boston Buddies after sitting in the LA City Shelter system on a personal property hold since March. Yes, you read that correctly, 7 and a half months ago, March!!! Unfortunately, last March, Rebel and Jewel were in the backseat of a car involved in a high-speed chase down the 10 freeway that frighteningly ended with the driver speeding straight into the whitewater of the ocean next to the Venice Beach Pier. The driver got out of the car, swimming deeper into the ocean. Rebel was thrown out of the car and found wandering on the sand by witnesses who quickly picked him up while the rescue was taking place. Jewel was stuck in the backseat of the car that was rocking and rolling in the surf and headed out to sea! Thankfully, the police officers involved in the pursuit checked the car and found Jewel still there and a heroic lifeguard rescued her. The dogs were taken into safe care by the City of Los Angeles and have been well taken care of while their legal ownership was determined. When the shelter called Boston Buddies and asked us to take these two brave dogs we immediately said yes and two of our awesome volunteers were at the shelter within hours to take them on their freedom ride.
Rebel weighs 26 lbs. and is just 21 months old, born Jan 17, 2023. Rebel was a bit anxious in the car ride away from the shelter – you can imagine that might be the case since the last time he went for a car ride he ended up being thrown from the car! But he did settle down when he realized he was safe. Jewel is even younger than Rebel, just 17 months old: born May 17, 2023. Poor Jewel had to celebrate her first birthday in the shelter! Jewel has the half white and half black face and weighs just 15 lbs. Although Jewel and Rebel were a bit shy and timid with our volunteers, they happily inhaled all the treats and graciously gave loads of kisses!
Finally, now, the journey to their best lives begins, and this is exactly where you step in! Remember the Hallmark movie…we’ve got our leading characters who’ve overcome the unthinkable and now our adorable duo is waiting for their heartwarming happy ending! After all these two have been through, a cozy FOSTER home together would be fantastic, but a FUREVER family and a FUREVER home that they could call their very own, for the holidays and every day, would be their most magical dream! Rebel and Jewel are healthy, up to date on vaccines, heartworm and fecal tested (both negative) and spayed/neutered. While we know Rebel and Jewel are bonded and we are only looking for a home for them together, we know next to nothing about the likes and dislikes of these two. But we cannot wait to see how extraordinary they will be when given lots of love and TLC! We know for certain they’re SO ready and will be an absolute gift to their FOSTER or FUREVER family!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Boston Buddies adopts its dogs to loving and caring homes located in Southern California. We do not place our dogs in homes with children under the age of eight. The first step in adopting a Boston Buddy is to submit an Adoption Application which can be downloaded at our website, www.bostonbuddies.org. After a home visit with one of our volunteers and approval of the Application we will arrange meetings with dogs that will be compatible with the approved adopter. An Adoption Application and Adoption Fee is required, as well as follow up visits.

More about this rescue

Boston Buddies is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing Boston Terriers who are abandoned, neglected or abused and placing them in permanent, loving homes. Our ultimate purpose is to match homeless or potentially homeless Boston Terriers with loving, permanent families specifically interested in the breed. We do not have a brick and mortar kennel facility. Instead, we provide our rescue dogs with temporary foster care in private homes located throughout Southern California where we can assess their personality and preferences. All of our dogs are examined by a vet and provided all necessary medical treatment, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and put on heartworm preventative.

Boston Buddies is always looking for volunteers to help with shelter checks, transport and foster home care. We invite you to visit our website – www.bostonbuddies.org
