This distinguished GSD is Walter! He arrived at the shelter as a lost boy on 10/28, and no one has come to reclaim him. It appears as though sweet Walter has had a rough go lately. We're not sure if he has been neglected by his family, or just lost and out on his own for a while now. He has some hair loss on his back and tail, but with some medicated baths and a little TLC it should grow back just fine. Walter sits very nicely for treats, and he loves taking his time on walks and sniffing everything. Walter is really hoping for a second chance and a new, loving forever home. If you have a soft spot for the underdogs, please come meet Walter.
Walter is approximately 10 years old, and he weighs 73 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and he will be microchipped upon adoption. Unfortunately, Walter did test positive for heartworms, but with proper treatment and care he can go on to live out his gold years. Please speak with shelter staff about the option of fostering to adopt while he receives treatment. Walter is intact, but due to his age the vet staff will not be able to neuter him at the shelter. Walter is waiting patiently in run 48; his ID # is 5774.
