Meet Marty, a complete sweetheart who loves to warm laps and cuddle! Marty is a middle-aged Maltese mix, about 9 lbs. He enjoys spending time outside exploring and playing with both his toys and friend Kaiya, whom he came into rescue with from the same home. If looking for a second dog Kaiya is also available and they do wonderful together, although adopting together is not required. An ideal home would include another dog and a loving family looking for a dog to spoil.

Although we do not discriminate based upon race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or age, we do reserve the right to make placements appropriate for the dog which may be affected by an individual's ability to care for the dog long term. This may include factors such as age of the dog related to age of the person, or activity level and needs of the dog related to an individual's ability to give the dog appropriate company, exercise, and supervision.
Our adoption process consists of the completion of an application, a reference check, and a home visit.
We require that all dogs/cats in the household be neutered or spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. We also require that dogs in the household be tested annually for heart worm.
Unfortunately, we are unable to set up an individual meeting between you and your prospective family member until the reference check has been successfully completed.
Families with Children Under age 8
We prefer that children of our adopters are over age 8, and most applicants with children under 8 years old who do not have a current or recently passed dog will be declined automatically. If families with children under 8 years old have a current dog, we may consider the application. Please send an email BEFORE completing your application. Send the email to nbstr2@outlook.com . In your email, tell us why you think your family may be a match for one of our rescue dogs.
Our current adoption fees are:
$400 Juvenile (0-4 years old)
$300 Adult (5-8 years old)
$200. Senior (9+ years old)

More about this rescue
- New Beginnings Shih Tzu Rescue is a charitable organization consisting of volunteers dedicated to rescue of small dogs. The dogs brought into our rescue program as fosters come from surrendering owners, shelters or pounds, breeders who are reducing their stock, and other sources.
- Our foster dogs live with foster families, who volunteer for New Beginnings. Our foster dogs are treated as loved family pets and live with their foster families until adoption. They are given medical care, other medical treatment for conditions diagnosed during their period of foster care, by licensed veterinarians.
- Our foster homes work very hard to determine the best possible match between their foster dog and potential forever home. The foster home is the best judge of what their foster dog needs. For that reason, final approval for the adoption rests with the foster home.
