My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Skye! My days are filled with play and boundless energy. I love a good game of fetch and nothing beats a good cuddle session. I'm quite the low rider, always on the go, ready to explore and have fun. My friendly nature makes me a hit with everyone I meet. I'm as sweet as they come, always eager to share my love and affection. Life in the shelter is okay, but I dream of a home where I can share my joy and enthusiasm every day. Adopting me means gaining a loyal, loving, and playful companion who will make every day brighter.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
