Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Theodore 'Teddy' is a 4-5 year old 62 pound Standard Poodle male that needs an active family.
Teddy was found on the streets of New Braunfels, and found his way into the hearts of his foster family. He loves cuddles and scratches, tug-of-war, walks, and to watch TV. He gets along with cats that will stand their ground, but will chase if your cat is inclined, and then he persists a bit more than is ideal. One of the family cats has free range of the house and they cohabitate beautifully, but the other is fearful, and lives in the bedroom now so we don't feed that chase instinct. He can mostly ignore small pets in cages when redirected and taught, but isn't to be trusted with them if they free-range. He gets along with dogs that are chill, but struggles if they want to be the boss as he doesn't mind being mostly equal, or in charge, but isn't cool with being super subordinate, especially with other bossy males.
We keep his body hair short and his head and tail are shorter than most doodle parents care for, but not only do we think he's adorable, but it helps keep him from matting. When he got his first cut after being pulled from the shelter, he had a huge skin reaction to being so short and broke out in a rash we treated, but did not have that problem at the second hair cut. He does struggle with itches in his ears and we are working to keep them clean to try to reduce the flare ups. He probably has super sensitive skin unfortunately.
He's pretty bomb proof with the kids, and will love and play with them endlessly, he's gentle in tug-of-war with the little one, and plays harder with big kids and adults, not to hurt, but just to give it a good go. He can play fetch, but isn't super great at the "drop it" part of the equation.
He does like to bark at the neighbor dogs, but can be redirected and will stop. He is mostly indoors, and with the skin sensitivity, I would recommend that he stay mostly indoors. He is crate trained, and won't bark through the night while there, and will stay in it while we're gone also because he does appreciate a little bit of a counter-surf for food.
He LOVES raw-hides, pig ears, rope toys (tug-of-war), and LOVES STUFFIES. He can't have them here because my 1st grader and he disagree about which ones are his vs hers, but a home where he can love them and keep them would be awesome.
He is very sweet and good with other dogs, and kids. He is neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped and hw negative.
Adoption fee is: $500
ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com.
Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee.
Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs.

More about this rescue
CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
