Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Scruffy is an 11-year-old, 10-pound Maltese-Poodle mix who was recently surrendered to a high-intake shelter after his owner of 11 years went into hospice care, and the family couldn't take him in. He's a friendly, affectionate little guy who loves to cuddle and be held. Scruffy is comfortable around dogs of all sizes, is crate trained, and has good potty habits, always going outside. He also walks well on a leash.
Scruffy enjoys napping on soft blankets and covers and is ready to find a new forever home where he can continue being the loyal, loving companion he's always been. This little senior has many happy years left to share and is looking for a family that can offer him comfort and companionship in his golden years.
Like many seasoned pets, Scruffy has some manageable medical conditions, including an irregular heartbeat, though he is not in heart failure. He is also currently on medication for dry eye, which a vet will need to evaluate for potential long-term care. Despite these challenges, Scruffy's sweet demeanor show his strong desire to be loved. He’s ready to offer his heart to a family who can provide him with the love and care he deserves.
Scruffy is fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $175.00.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
