My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

NUTMEG was found living outside on a rural property and it was presumed she was dumped along with several other cats and kittens that were found there. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She’s a super friendly girl who loves her humans. She’s just been moved to a new foster home and so far she’s been a bit cautious of the new people around her. She will eventually turn into the snuggly little girl that she is. She just needs an owner with patience who understands she’ll take a few weeks to warm up before she becomes comfortable enough to jump into your lap and turn into the purring machine she can be. She does love attention but she has to trust her new owner enough before she lets her guard down to get the snuggles she loves so much.
NUTMEG’s litter box trained and she has been since first going to her foster home. She loves being adventurous and exploring all the nooks and crannies she can find. She enjoys playing with all sorts of toys but chasing a ball is one of her favourite past times. She also enjoys sitting in the cat tree and looking out the window at all the wildlife outside. She’s fostered with other kittens and at first she didn’t know what to make of them but it didn’t take long before they all became best friends. We feel she would best suit a home with another cat as she’s very interactive with the ones in her foster home. There’s also a puppy in the home and he does chase her around but they do interact and with one and other so she should do well with a dog in her new home, provided they’re cat savvy and a slow, monitored introduction is done between them and the dog is leashed. Children should be age 6 and up plus be loving, caring and gentle towards animals.
If NUTMEG sounds like she would suit you and your family then please submit an adoption application.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
