My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A nova is "a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness," which describes this sweet gal perfectly. Nova is quite the shining star, whose personality only grows brighter each day. Her eyes are like staring into an entire galaxy, full of beauty and wisdom...or maybe that's the possible cataracts forming. We're not exactly sure how well Nova sees up-close, but it doesn't hold her back AT ALL. She gets around here just fine and even manages some silly office mischief, keeping us all laughing and saying "Awww!"

Nova is about 5 years old, and your guess on her breed mix is as good as ours...Pug? Sharpei? Bulldog? Rottie? Short, squat, snorty piggie? 100% Certified Good Girl? Definitely those last two. Nova loves people of all ages, including kids. She's great with most other dogs, especially her BFF and #1 wrestling partner Twinkle. She's even good with cats! Nova will be spayed soon and will come microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Fill out an application at the sanctuary or www.secondchanceas.org/adopt (Inquiries on online listings don't constitute an application)

2.

Interview

We will call your veterinarian and personal references. We'll also call you if we have questions or need more information.

3.

Approve Application

We will approve or deny the application. You may be approved to adopt, but not necessarily the same animal you originally applied for.

4.

Meet the Pet

This may be done before applying. You'll be asked to sign an adoption contract and to make a certain donation amount, rather than a set fee.

Additional adoption info

We are passionate about pairing animals in need with loving families who would best suit their individual needs. NOTE: You do not have to apply for a specific animal on your application. You can submit it as a "pre-application" for a certain size, age or breed of animal, and if approved, we can contact you if a possible match arrives at the shelter.
