Calling all draft horse lovers - this is one you don`t want to miss! Roger is a sweet, sensitive soul who has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite since his arrival at Nevins Farm.
Roger appears to be quite familiar with the routine of harnessing - all you have to do is hold a halter out in front of you and he will lower his head right into it. Despite this, Roger can be a nervous fellow and really benefits from a calm, gentle approach from his handler. Even though his initial instinct is to react with fear, Roger has really impressed the staff at Nevins with how quickly he learns and adapts to new situations.
Roger will need a farrier experienced with trimming and caring for draft horses. This is the area that makes him the most nervous, but with enough time and practice we are confident he will get on the right track! He has a couple of special considerations when it comes to his hoof health which staff will be happy to discuss with any potential adopters.
Roger has lived out 24/7 since his arrival to Nevins and currently lives with his other draft buddy. At this time, Roger is seeking a more lowkey home where his new family will give him ample time to settle in and get to know him before exploring what he might want to do!
