My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Cane as in sugar cane.... Candy cane and can I use your cane for a stick?
Breed: Goofball!
Goals: have fun all day!
Hobbies: anything you want to do!
Attitude: happy layered with more Happy on top.
he and his pal Shiesty were dropped off at HSWC for a couples retreat weekend by the ACO. Apparently the two adventure seekers set out for world travel and their first stop was Salisbury. Now they are ready to enjoy some R&R.
Cane is the kind of guy that makes you smile when you see him. You know he will say or do something to make you laugh. And you can't resist giving him a big hug. Shiesty doesn't mind sharing him. She is secure in their relationship. She knows he will always come back to her.
Cane is looking for more adventure and a solid lifestyle change. He wants more stability and commitment. He can get along with everyone. He's a jump in your lap lick your face kinda guy. The kind anyone can talk to at a party.
He's a big guy, very strong but doesn't really workout. Likes to be active but is not obsessed with sports.
He's still young and wants to do other things now that they traveling days are behind them. We are sure he is more open at home, but here he doesn't mind anything at all. They are both well adjusted and could do fine on their own. Come by and visit this lovable couple. Maybe you can offer them the life they want.
🟢🌕🐈‍⬛ curious and interested in outside cats. Will need his leader to teach him good manners with inside cats. No negative reactivity, but Cane loves life And will be enthusiastic about new friends. Supervision recommended for the first few weeks.
🟢🐶 ok with doggy friends. Meet and greets required to determine sibling compatibility.
🟢❤️👨‍👩‍👧 loves people!!
54 pound lovable hunk.

A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
