My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Benny was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on August 22, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Benny! This handsome fellow is looking for a long-term commitment with someone who can help him feel safe and confident in new surroundings. While Benny can be a little shy when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar places, with some patience, you'll see his sweet personality shine through. Benny has shown some interest in other dogs while in our care, but may prefer calmer canine friends. Feel free to bring any current pups in the home down to meet Benny so that we can ensure a good fit! Benny is ready to start a new chapter in a home that understands his need for a calm introduction to new things. He'll thrive in an environment without young children where he can build trust at his own pace. Whether it's quiet strolls in the neighborhood or relaxing afternoons by your side, Benny is the type of dog who appreciates the simple joys. When you're ready to come meet Benny, be sure to bring a collar and a sturdy leash to help him feel secure as he transitions to his new routine. Come meet Benny today-he's waiting for the chance to settle in and enjoy the comfort and kindness of his new home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
