Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Comet came into the shelter with her two sisters after their previous owner couldn`t keep them any more. Shortly after Comet and her sisters came in they tested positive for distemper (additional medical information below). Despite coming in sick Comet has proven to be a sensitive and sweet puppy who is eager to please. In foster she`s been working on her basic puppy skills and has proven to be very smart. Her foster reports that she is crate trained, house broken, and has learned a number of tricks including sit, paw, and getting off the furniture when asked. Comet is shy at first when meeting new people and dogs but once she warms up she loves to snuggle in your lap and is very mellow for a puppy.
Medical: Distemper is a virus that has no cure but is a part of the core vaccines that dogs get. Fully vaccinated adult dogs are not at risk for catching the virus. The virus itself in the infected animal can cause symptoms in their respiratory, GI issues or central nervous systems. Previously Comet and her sisters were being treated for upper respiratory symptoms but are now non symptomatic. PACC will cover all their medical/donated supplies for a foster. It takes up to 3-4months for the puppies to stop “shedding” the virus and be able to be incorporated into normal day-to-day activities (dog parks, etc).
