Hi there, I am a handsome 11-month-old, 27 lb “Texas Special” which means who the heck knows. Maybe shepherd mix or Terrier mix with big ol’ Basenji ears, but whatever I am, I’m sweet and friendly and my name is Mike. I was found with my doggy friend Jones living/barely surviving in a swampy area in Castroville Texas. We were skin and bones and drinking from the swamp when our now foster mom spotted us. She actually walked through the hip-high water to carry us each back to her car and her timing couldn't have been better. I must have tangled with a porcupine and my face was full of quills so I went straight to the vet for treatment, and vaccines, and while I was under they neutered me too. Wow, what a day, but I’m finally healed and feeling great and I’m looking for a forever home far away from Texas.
Turns out I am a lovely boy. Laid-back and easygoing about life in general, I’m friendly with everyone dogs cats kids you name it and I’m just looking for love and pets and kisses and snuggles. My foster mom says I’m a sweetheart, patient, and trusting, and you can see the gratitude in my beautiful eyes every time I gaze at you. I’m housebroken and well-behaved. I love walks and car rides. I learned how to use a doggy door by watching the other dogs so I must be pretty smart. I am totally ready to be someone's forever dog so let's get this party started! East Coast people, inquire about me today!

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
