Dog name: Apalla
Breed: boxer mix
Sex: female
Age: approximately 1 year
Weight: 42 pounds
Medical Needs: Apalla has sensitive skin and some hair loss. She also has a hearing deficit. None of these things stop her from loving life and being the happiest girl.
Housebroken: Almost there! She can go days without accidents, but she doesn't signal to let you know she needs to go out. She does need to be put out frequently and does best with a routine.
Good in a crate: She goes in for a treat and sometimes she settles quickly and other times she makes sure you know she's sad about it.
Good in the car: Yes, Apalla is harnessed in the back on her dog bed and she lays right down. She is perfect in the car!
Good on a leash: Apalla is doing very well walking on a leash. She zig zags a little but overall she is a good walker.
Energy level: medium
She is taken for a morning walk, has some playtime with her foster sister and then she's ready for a long nap. She does have bursts of puppy energy, but they are pretty short lived.
Need a fenced in yard: No, she will be fine with leashed walks.
Dog Friendly: Apalla absolutely loves other dogs. She is very playful with her furry friends and enjoys snuggling with them too.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home? No
Cat Friendly? Yes
Kid Friendly: Yes
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any, with proper supervision.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know:
Apalla came from a neglectful living situation in Georgia where she spent all of her time outside with other dogs. It is quite miraculous that she is so friendly to people and that she has adapted so easily to life in a home. Her perfect home includes humans that aren't gone more than 4 to 5 hours a day, someone who will give her belly rubs and snuggles on the couch. After a rough start, this sweet girl deserves the best!
Foster location: Apalla is being fostered in Dover, Delaware.
